Muddy Care is both a ground-breaking, innovative educational rehabilitation and lifelong support service and it is a community for people who suffer with chronic medical conditions. Our service now also includes support for those with LONG COVID.
We are a not-for-profit organisation which means all our profit goes into research and providing support and services for our community.
Our rehabilitation services are delivered by specialist outdoor education teachers, who have exemplary experience in both health and wellness as well as outdoor education.
Muddy Care is managed by a professional outdoor education specialist who has several serious chronic conditions herself and has dedicated the last nine years of her life to researching health and wellness from a chronic condition perspective. Muddy Care focuses holistically on all aspects of health and wellbeing; i.e., physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, environmental and social.
Muddy Care offers a variety of educational rehabilitation services;
A long-term outdoor rehabilitation educational programme,
In 2021 we will be delivering a variety of short-course outdoor rehabilitation educational programmes,
Online educational rehabilitation workshops for Muddy participants on our long-term rehabilitation programme,
Online educational rehabilitation workshops for Muddy participants on our short-term rehabilitation programmes,
Bespoke online educational events,
Individualised support both online and through outdoor education workshops.
There are several facets to Muddy Care but at the heart of everything we are doing, we are listening directly to what people with chronic conditions and LONG COVID need for continued health and wellbeing and providing support for those groups of people. The severity of chronic conditions and the impacts of LONG COVID vary tremendously. Our aim is to cater for a wide range of chronic condition audiences and those with varying impacts of LONG COVID.
Muddy Care has been designed and written through the eyes of someone with several chronic conditions (which all began from the impacts of a serious virus) and we continuously work closely within our community listening to their needs and struggles. Our goal is to help you make your future as bright as possible.
Muddy Care builds hope, resilience, friendships, provides peer support, information, strategies and tools to self-manage chronic condition(s) and the impacts of LONG COVID more independently and effectively. We promote holistic health and wellness and are a community that works collectively and cooperatively with other communities.
We help people move forwards positively in their lives with their illness, injury, condition or disability. We do this in a safe, nurturing environment that promotes fitness, holistic health and wellbeing, socialisation, support, empathy, fun, learning and teaching about the natural environment, mindfulness, meditation and improve self-esteem.
Muddy Care will emphasise to participants that even though they have a chronic health condition, or their lives have been significantly challenged by the impacts of a virus, their future has many bright possibilities and Muddy Care can assist in opening doors to many of those opportunities.
The outdoor educational rehabilitation programmes and lifelong support community are taught and managed by professional outdoor learning educationalists (some with chronic conditions themselves) through the medium of low-level outdoor activities delivered through nature based, blue and green care. Within the activities and during the educational workshops, different themes are explored through educational exercises in relation to chronic conditions and LONG COVID. For those of you not familiar with blue and green care, blue represents water environments such as the sea and green represents land environments such as green open spaces. Care refers to the activities that we carry out and how we carry them out.
